It was truly a pleasure to listen and learn from this interview. Sharon is very articulate and intelligent and the content of this interview supports the fact that she is one of the only African American females heading an athletic department. It amazes me that Sharon can be so progressive and yet down to earth. I received encouragement from listening, as well as that extra push to prepare for my Doctorate in Education program. As an African American female, it is comforting to know that there is another face somewhat like mine, leading the way. For women other that African American, I’m sure Sharon serves a similiar purpose, as well. Sharon is most definitely the vision of what most of us want to become. No matter where we have derived from, we are all in need of encouragement. I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to be associated with such excellence through this University. Sharon proves that her selection was justified and worthy. Because of this and many other reasons, I am proud to affiliated with such a fine university.

2 or 3 years ago there was a lady by the name of Sandra Norell-Thomas who was the AD at Howard University. But she no longer has that position. So I do believe that Ms. Beverly is the only one

Great interview S.B. Sharon is one of the PhD learners that I am in contact with via email. She, along with several other learners that I met at various colloquia, has been an encouragement to me. Within that group of supporters we have all completed our comprehensive examinations and are working on our dissertations. One of the members of the group has already received his PhD.

As Sharon indidicated, it is a good thing to develop a support group who can give you advice and encouragement along the way.

I really enjoyed listening to the podcast and found it very inspiring. As an African-American working in the University setting (HBCU) I was particulary interested in this particular Podcast. I am currently a Ph.D learner and will complete my courswork this summer. I have also found the door to opportunity to be very positive in the collegiate setting.

Again the Podcast was inspirational and I encourage Capella University to continue to broadcast such positive messages.

This was a great interview and I am especially proud to say I met Ms. Beverly during my first Colloquim in Dulles VA. For those of you who don’t know, she has just completed her Comps and passed with flying colors. She truly is an amazing, phenominal woman. All of our original cohort has remained in touch and each of us have expressed our appreciation for how Capella allows us to do our day jobs and put our student suits on at night….

Sharon is truly amazing and I know I can speak for our entire cohort, when I say, we are so proud of her!!!

This was the first time that I have had an opportunity to listen to the podcast. I
was very amazed at how the interview was conducted. Also how encourageing Sharon was to continue with your education and reach beyond the stars. Set your mind to it and work on it. Don’t wait until life wakes you up. Do it ahead of time and be on top of the issues ahead.

I was impressed and moved by this presentation. I think what moved me the most was the flow of the presentation in addition to the success of the interviewee. Questions were asked and answer in a way that made the presentation easy to listen to and understand.

I was happy to learn about the wonderful opportunities that have occurred for Capella learners. To know that others are succeeding uplifted my spirit and reinforced my belief in myself.
