Hi Jerry:

It’s good to know that other “older” students are in various programs at Capella. I was somewhat scared in the beginning, but now I believe that I can compete with students of any age. I have done very well in the Organization and Management PhD program.

I will be 60 years old when I complete the program.

Hello Jerry,
As a long-time adjunct faculty member of the Capella School of Psychology, I have had several students who have been “older” than the average age of forty-something of Capella Learners. I have found that, like you,they bring a wealth of experience both professional and personal, into the online course room. This both enhances the general course room atmosphere and is a great peer teaching tool for other Learners, and also for me.
Your enthusiasm comed through so clearly in this podcast. Thanks for sharing with us.

I am 55 years old and am just starting my Masters (I have 3 undergrad degrees). Even though I love learning, I was reluctant to enroll in formal program because I was feeling too old; Jerald Nine makes me laugh at myself. Thank you Jerald for helping me see how foolish it is to feel too old to go to school. HAha…..life is good.

Hi Jerry,
All the very best to you! I’m working in an organization that is going through another merger and it seems like there is an erroneous correlation in the workplace between age and initiative, i.e. as you get older, you don’t have initiative or drive. In fact, I think the reverse is true. You’re never too old to learn and achieve. A person’s only constraint is themselves.
May you achieve your many goals! Continued success and I hope that I get the opportunity to meet you!
